Semiplane began in 2016 with the goal of  providing exceptional value and performance to the mass spec market.  Leveraging over fifteen years of continuous work in the field of time of flight mass spec electronics to bring innovative solutions to you.

Our team, has since become heavily involved in aviation maintenance becoming an FAA certified repair station in 2019 performing avionics upgrades to light aircraft.  We utilize our engineering and business backgrounds to bring value to our customers.

Valerie Steen

Valerie has a degree in computer engineering and has been a pilot for 25 years with ATP and CFI ratings.  She holds the repairman certificate for Semiplane.  Valerie's career began in biomedical engineering in the early 1980's designing patient diagnostic equipment.  From 2000 to 2016 she became a design and manufacturing engineer for a scientific instrumentation company.  Since 2016 she has been devoted to growing Semiplane.

Doug Steen

 Doug is an engineer/MBA.  Following a 35 year career with Lockheed Martin, 20 years serving in executive positions, and 13 on aircraft programs, he took early retirement to focus on general aviation.  Doug is an Air Ambulance King Air pilot with 7000 hours of pilot in command experience and holds Airframe and Powerplant with Inspection Authorization (IA) certificates.  Doug and Valerie built the Semiplane avionics repair station from scratch and were awarded FAA repair station status in 2018.
